Salary Band: £33,000 – £36,000 inclusive of LWA

Fairhazel Co-operative

Established in 1975, the Fairhazel Co-operative is a tenant-managed housing co-operative with 129 well-maintained, high quality properties. It is a thriving community with a strong core of members who are actively involved. Tenants include families, single people, couples, and Camden key-workers. As a registered social landlord, a good proportion of vacant flats are allocated to Camden nominations from their housing list. Accommodation ranges from bed-sit to flat-shares, and one-bed to five-bed mansion flats. The Co-op currently employs a Housing Manager, Housing Assistant, Maintenance Officer, Gardener/Handyman and a self-employed Book Keeper.

The Post

This job would suit an experienced, skilled and qualified maintenance officer, preferably with experience of working in social housing. You will be responsible for the efficient day-to-day repairs as well as cyclical maintenance of the Co-op properties. You will be working on your own initiative, making decisions, reporting to Buildings & Works Working Party and will need to have excellent communication skills. Candidates will be assessed for skills in repairs and maintenance, health & safety, fire safety, communication, tenants and staff as well as external liaison, together with sound knowledge of legislation and housing repair and maintenance matters in various sectors including building, central heating, boilers, plumbing, electrics, etc. You are responsible to the Management Committee made up of elected members of the Co-op.

Number of hours: 35 per week.

Holidays: 20 days, plus all Bank Holidays, increasing after 2 years of work.
